Morning Video: Campbell Brown's EdNews Site Launch Video
The Seventy Four, Campbell Brown's much-anticipated new education site, went live last night with a tweet and the above somewhat Shining-like video, and will start pumping out original commentary and content in a couple of weeks. Contributors to @The74 will include New America's Conor Williams and AJC's Cynthia Tucker. Funders include Walton & Bloomberg. Read all about it in the WSJ or the intro email below.
I am excited to announce the launch of a project I've been working on for some time now. As profiled in The Wall Street Journal today, The Seventy Four, a non-profit, non-partisan news site about education, is now a reality.
There are 74 million children under the age of 18 in the United States. And the unfortunate reality is that for many of these children, the public education system is broken.
Our mission at The Seventy Four is to lead an honest, fact-based conversation about how to give America's 74 million children the education they deserve. The Seventy Four’s reporting aims to challenge the status quo, expose corruption and inequality, and champion the heroes who bring positive change to our schools.
Many people have asked me if I'm an advocate or a journalist. Well, the answer is I'm both. This news site will force a real and much-needed conversation about the future of this nation and how it approaches educating our children.
The full site goes live mid-July, but in the meantime you can check us out here and on social media. And don't miss this video explaining what we're all about.
On behalf of our entire team, I'm excited to be launching this new venture, and I want to thank all of our friends and supporters who have made this possible.
I look forward to keeping in touch with updates and bringing you in to this important conversation.
The Seventy Four is a non-profit, non-partisan news site covering education in America. Our public education system is in crisis. In the United States, less than half of our students can read or do math at grade-level, yet the education debate is dominated by misinformation and political spin. Our mission is to lead an honest, fact-based conversation about how to give America’s 74 million children under the age of 18 the education they deserve.
There are 74 million reasons to talk about education. Join the conversation.
