Quotes: That Campaign Field Worker Might Well Be A Teacher
If someone knocks on your door and says, ‘I’m Mark, I’m from the state Democratic Party,’ you take the literature and shut the door. “If you say, ‘Hi, I’m Karen, I’m a third-grade teacher at Hillsmere Elementary and I’m here to tell you what’s at stake for public education,’ that gets a very different reaction from the voter. - Karen White, political director for the National Education Association in today's Politico story (Unions put teachers on streets — for votes)
Would be great if unions actually advocated for policies that move education forward instead of just advocating for teachers. If that were the case, unionized teachers wouldn't have lengthy lists of issues with their schools. Unions need to advocate for more than contracts.
