You already knew this one was coming -- and that Adriene Hill was going to be the lead reporter along with editory Betsy Streisand.

But you probably didn't know that the effort was going to be dubbed Learning Curve.

"The most ambitious and expansive education project in Marketplace’s 25-year history, LearningCurve will engage a national audience in an ongoing conversation on multiple platforms. Coverage will include on air segments across the Marketplace portfolio of public radio programs, a dedicated website, infographics and interactive quizzes, videos, dedicated Twitter and Tumblr accounts and, starting later in June, a regular podcast hosted by Adriene Hill and Marketplace Tech host Ben Johnson."

Marketplace Launches LearningCurve:

New Multi-Media Project Explores How Tech Transforms Education

(Los Angeles/St. Paul, Minn.) May 28, 2014—Today, American Public Media’s Marketplacelaunches LearningCurve, a new multi-media project that will explore the growing role of technology in education, from pre-K to college. LearningCurve will focus on the promise—and the peril—of the digital revolution, as it transforms the way teachers teach, students learn, and the way the business of education is conducted.

The most ambitious and expansive education project in Marketplace’s 25-year history, LearningCurve will engage a national audience in an ongoing conversation on multiple platforms. Coverage will include on air segments across the Marketplace portfolio of public radio programs, a dedicated website, infographics and interactive quizzes, videos, dedicated Twitter and Tumblr accounts and, starting later in June, a regular podcast hosted by Adriene Hill and Marketplace Tech host Ben Johnson.

LearningCurve’s award-winning team includes senior reporter Adriene Hill, digital journalist Dan Abendschein and senior interactive designer Paul Brent.  LearningCurve’s senior editor isBetsy Streisand

The Wednesday launch will feature an in-depth look at the history of technology and investment in the classroom, heard first on Marketplace Morning Report with David Brancaccio and later that day on Marketplace with Kai Ryssdal. Both pieces will be reported by senior reporter Adriene Hill. An interactive timeline of the history of tech in the classroom will be featured onmarketplace.org/learningcurve, where audiences can also participate in CurveBall, an interactive tech/education quiz.  The public is also encouraged to share their experiences with classroom technology on the LearningCurve Tumblr.

On Thursday's Marketplace Morning Report, Hill explores the roots of public radio in education, which will include a map and history from several stations. On Thursday’s Marketplace, she will report on the billions of dollars in venture capital flowing into educational technology companies, and the classroom. In her report, she explores whether this is the beginning of an educational revolution or the economy's next bubble. An accompanying graphic exploring the trend will be highlighted on the LearningCurve website.

Throughout the next year, the LearningCurve team will produce original public radio stories, podcasts, videos and interactive digital features exploring how technology is transforming education across the country.
