During his talk with Bill Moyers from Friday, Peter Edelman criticizes pre-Clinton welfare, explains how welfare has been stripped down to little more than Food Stamps in many states, and defends Obama's record funding antipoverty program:

Well, that’s really the problem: funding. Antipoverty is so unregulated that in many states, mine included, welfare means “have some food stamps, have a weekly check, that’s it, best of luck.” It’s not designed to get a person out of debt, but rather to shut them up.
