Technology: District Portal Address Tops Google Search Terms

image from michaelzimmer.org What's the most-searched term in Chicago for 2010?  It's "student.cps.k12.il.us," the Web portal for Chicago Public Schools students to manage grades and assignments (Google Zeitgeist 2010). Apparently kids and parents don't know or care about the difference between a search box and a web address (we've all done it, but not repeatedly).  According to Google, "students were likely bringing home fliers or notes from teachers with the URL printed on it. Their parents would then type the address into a Google search bar instead of their browser's address bar."  Or maybe not just the parents.
