Kudos to Larry Ferlazzo and the NYT learning network for this collaboration on teaching ELL kids (The Power of Personal Stories). Plus I learned Larry was a once a community organizer.

Yup, though I organized out here in California for 19 years where the weather is better, our national organization was based in your neck of the woods -- the Chicago based Industrial Areas Foundation (founded by Saul Alinsky in the thirties).
