"First, Kill All The School Boards"

200801_featureThere are at least two article to note in the latest issue of The Atlantic, now out online -- subscription required, alas.  First is Matt Miller's wonky and completely impossible (but still fun) proposal to fix American schools (First, Kill All the School Boards). 

Second is Amy Waldman's review of how the media got the whole Jena Six story wrong (The Truth About Jena).  As you may recall, Waldman wrote that beautiful piece about school reform in New Orleans last winter. (To see an excerpt from that one, go to Reading, Writing, Resurrection.)
