Spellings At The SOTU: It Was A White-Out

Margaret_spellings Lost in all the hullabaloo of the Kennedy endorsement and the President's speech was the spectacle of EdSec Spellings decked out last night in what appeared to be an all-white cowl-necked outfit (sort of but not really like the one pictured here).  Either that, or she forgot to take her coat off after she got to her seat.  Does anyone have a picture of it?

Not to be unkind, but to me it looked like a scary polar bear getup.  I must have watched too many red carpet shows on E!  Condi Rice was also in winter white, albeit not as high-necked. What do you think (besides that I am a fat jerk for writing about this)?

Click below for her public schedule this week and some details about the budget rollout on Monday.

In the meantime, Spellings has a couple of things going on this week in Louisiana and Georgia, starting on Thursday:  9:30 a.m. CST: Secretary Spellings will host an education policy roundtable with Louisiana Superintendent Paul Pastorek. A media availability will follow. OPEN PRESS Baton Rouge, La. 1:10 p.m. CST:  Secretary Spellings will visit St. Peter Claver School to highlight Catholic Schools Week.  Friday, February 1 8:30 a.m. CST:  Secretary Spellings will host an education policy roundtable with Alabama Governor Bob Riley at the Alabama State House. A media availability will follow. OPEN PRESS Montgomery, Ala.

Don't forget that the budget is coming out on Monday.  Fritz has all the details: "The U.S. Department of Education will hold a briefing on the President's Fiscal Year 2009 Budget Request Monday, February 4, starting promptly at 1:00 p.m. in the Department Auditorium (400 Maryland Avenue, S.W., Washington, DC, 20202). Reservations are not required. For security purposes, attendees are reminded to bring a photo ID and a business card. As in previous years, attendees must first go through the magnetometers on the east end of the building and display their photo ID. However, instead of signing-in at the Guard's Desk, attendees will be directed to the auditorium's rear doors, where they will be asked to submit a business card OR record their name, organization, and contact information on a sign-in sheet. Also, at this point, briefing materials will be distributed."  He also recommends that you NOT bring a laptop, as they require special other procedures (strip-search, etc.)
