Make them fear you? The so-called ed "reform" movement is already waging a massive hate campaign against teachers and public schools, and doing collateral damage to public school children and their families. What could it do more of to instill yet more fear?
The original article linked to is about what gun control can learn from gay rights. But both those movements are underdogs facing powerful and amply resourced foes. The so-called education "reformers" are the ones with the power and the ample resources, and their targets are the underdogs.

I like how one of the articles asserts I’m supposed to feel pity for congress when the standstill they’re at is a product of their own doing. If they wanted to make their jobs less stressful, they could simply, you know... stop listening to lobbyists. They could take capitalism back out of politics, and listen to people first. Also, pigs could fly, and Elvis could turn up in Nevada for his reunion tour.
