The Delpit book review link also leads to an interesting review of Robert Rothman's book on the development of the Common Core, which could shape up to be a fiasco possibly beyond any that have been foisted upon us so far. (I was an early supporter of the Common Core, and am much abashed at what a travesty it appears to be in process of becoming.)

Good for Deasy. For so many years, students have been told to speak up in terms of bullying, abuse, etc., yet teachers rarely speak up. Maybe some will learn that silence is not the acceptable route anymore.

And, I guess I have to question publishers. I saw a book on a shelf a couple days ago when I was out shopping that said "Raising Black Children." Eye catching, sure, but as I flipped through it, there was a section on "pimps." The book seemed to carry stereotypes to the max. I hope this "Multiplication is for White People" is a little better.
