Afternoon Video: The Middle School Moment
Forget that Fast Times At West Philly High segment I was telling you about -- check out The Middle School Moment, which features Hopkins researcher Robert Balfanz talking about dropout indicators and MS244 in the Bronx:

“I saw kids saying, ‘Help me. Help me stay on track.’”
No. I don’t think that’s what they’re saying. I think their problems transcend attendance, school, education in general. These students don’t need to be analyzed, they don’t need statisticians picking them apart, they need help fixing their personal lives... I liked the counselor much more than those simply concluding “she needs help with something”.
