Quotes: "You're Nothing Special"
Contrary to what your soccer trophy suggests, your glowing seventh grade report card … you're nothing special...You are not exceptional. -- Viral commencement speech by Wellesley High School English teacher David McCullough, Jr. (The Answer Sheet via Gawker).

I wish this had been the commencement speech I was given, to be honest. Sugar-coating accounts for roughly 90% of what happens at commencement. I hated sitting through it then, and still would, because there comes a point in a student’s life where he or she gets that the world is a scary place. It always will be. Making a kid feel special up until they make it into a career gets them nothing but an inability to accept that one can fail.
