Quotes: "Expertise Is So 20th Century"
At some point in recent American history, we started assuming that if people are rich enough, they must be experts in all things... Expertise is so 20th century. - Siva Vaidhyanathan in Slate (What happens when universities are run by robber barons)

Some of the richest people I know are the ones who have had to struggle to get where they are. I'm currently on a vacation to coastal Maine, and talk to many of the lobstermen here and you'll learn some incredible lessons. First being that you don't have to be rich to lead a fulfilling life.

You don't have to be rich to be an expert at something, and just because you are rich it doesn't make you and expert. I'm sure that there are somethings I could learn from a rich person just as well as I would learn something from a poor person. How much money a person has does not determine if they're an expert or not. I do agree that the image that America puts off does say well you're rich you must be an expert at something. For a rich person this could be a good image for them, but what about the poor or middle class people is America saying that there is no way that they can be experts.
