Quotes: When The NCAA Asks More Than An Ed School
If we are making it easier for someone to become a teacher than to play college sports, I think there is something wrong with that equation. -- NCTQ's Kate Walsh, on BloombergEDU (full quote below)
"It is often easier to get into an education school than to qualify to play NCAA athletics. If we are making it easier for someone to become a teacher than to play college sports, I think there is something wrong with that equation.” www.nctq.org

I’m not sure I agree or disagree with that quote. On one hand, I’d like to think teaching wouldn’t be a difficult field to get into. The world needs more good teachers than it has, and closing off the field to a select few won’t help that. Intrapersonal skills are at least as important to a teacher as an overall education. That being said, one would hope the field is a little exclusive. I don’t think just anyone has the capacity to be a teacher, as evidenced by the few truly great teachers I’ve actually met.
