Quotes: "Your Children Are Missing All Of That"
I would like to take these parents who insist their children go to the best preschools and then Yale, etc, etc, and grab them by the scruff of their necks and take them to the Charles Town poker room and say, ‘These people are really fun and smart, and [your children] are missing all of that.’ -- Charles Murray in Financial Times via Dana Goldstein

Sadly, it doesn't just end on a preschool level. I remember high school teachers criticizing me for daring to apply to what they felt was a mediocre college, though it's what I was comfortable affording. In an atmosphere that should be about respect, I ended up having teachers call me stupid and lazy for not choosing an Ivy League school.
