USDE: Duncan Goes To Denver

image from images6.cpcache.com Secretary Duncan is headed to Denver for a couple of events, including the labo-management conference some are calling collabor-palooza.  There's also a budget coming out -- though Republicans still want to talk about last (this) year's budget a little longer.  And that's about all.  See below. PUBLIC SCHEDULE OF U.S. EDUCATION SECRETARY ARNE DUNCAN 
THE WEEK AHEAD
: Monday-Saturday, Feb. 14-Feb. 19, 2011

Monday, February 14
1:45 p.m.-2:30 p.m. ET
Secretary Duncan will participate in a press conference call on the proposed FY 2012 budget.  
 
Tuesday, February 15 
Secretary Duncan will travel to Denver, Colo. for the following events:
 
11:50 a.m.-1:20 p.m. MT; media avail at 1 p.m.
Secretary Duncan will observe students completing the 2011 on-line Free Application for Federal Student Aid and discuss the FAFSA completion pilot program at the FAFSA Completion Community Forum at Manual High School, 1700 E 28th Ave., Denver, Colo.
 
2 p.m. MT
Secretary Duncan will attend the labor management conference, Advancing Student Achievement Through Labor-Management Collaboration, hosted by the U.S. Department of Education and deliver opening remarks in the Four Seasons Ballroom 2 and 3 at the Colorado Convention Center, 700 14th Street, Denver. 
 
Wednesday, February 16 
1 p.m. ET  (11 a.m. MT)
Secretary Duncan will hold a national press call to reflect on the conversation and ideas put forth at the labor management conference in Denver, hosted by the U.S. Department of Education.  Dial 888-949-2789 and give the Passcode:  LABOR.
 
Thursday, February 17
No Public Events
 
Friday, February 18  
10:30 a.m.-11:40 a.m.  PT, media avail immediately following event
The Secretary will join Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, John Legend and other panelists for a TEACH Round Table event, moderated by Vikki Vargas, NBC 4’s Orange County Bureau Chief.  They will discuss the importance of the teaching profession at the Edward R. Roybal Learning Center, multipurpose room, 1200 Colton Street, Los Angeles, Calif.  A media avail will follow the event in the faculty dining room.
