Charts: Whatever Happened to Boston and Long Beach?

ScreenHunter_06 Nov. 30 00.33 A new McKinsey report on school improvement lists Long Beach, Boston, and Aspire charters as examples of sustained improvement (PDF) and attempts to synthesize the factors that shape long-term improvement within the US and among other nations. 

Long Beach and Boston don['t get much attention these days, especially now since Payzant and Cohn have been gone several years.  Is this a measure of lost momentum, or educational (media) faddishness?
