I couldn't agree more with this post/cartoon.
As someone who lost my mid-level job in the commercial real estate industry through no fault of my own (I suppose arguably choosing the wrong career path) I've been following this story closely but I feel like lately this very time sensitive issue regarding unemployment insurance has been for the most part sidelined even on the 24 hour news networks in favor of endless discussion about the gulf oil spill.
While the gulf oil spill is unquestionably very important the clock is literally ticking on millions of workers that qualify for unemployment benefits.
I personally emailed my congressmen yesterday and have been encouraging everyone else to do the same.
