Power Couples In Education -- Are There Any?

reality_2.jpg
Power couples crop up not just in the world of pop culture but also in politics, as this Washington Monthly story reminds us: journalists married to campaign staff, judges married to lobbyists, etc.

But are there any power couples in education? Not that I know of. I met Heather Podesta at an education event in DC earlier this year, married to Tony Podesta, brother of John. They're on the WMonthly list. Any others?

UPDATE: Readers share their nominations below. Got any to add?

I'd nominate Rodney and Maria Ferguson. You know Rodney -- Maria is exec dir of National School Boards Foundation.

How about Gary Orfield and his wife, Patricia Gandara?

Also, (though they'd never call themselves this) Bruce and Barbara Hunter -- he's a top guy w/ AASA, she does PR for NSBA.

it's sort of obscure, but what about MSM journalist jonathan chait and education consultant robin?

There's Marcella Dianda, senior policy analyst for the NEA, and her husband E. Joseph Schneider, who is managing partner for Leadership Development Resources, an educational consulting company in Arlington, and who used to be the deputy executive director of the American Association of School Administrators.

One couple might be Lynne and Doug Fuchs at Vanderbilt. Here is a link that descibes them.

another reader reminds us:

nina rees (former USDE) and matt rees (journalist)
